چکیده
conclusions as a result of the full range uv-vis scanning of the responsible band in the hptlc experiments (200-700 nm), the flavonoid was the most imaginable natural compound. results through the bioassay guided fractionation method, the greatest antibacterial activities were related to the n-hexane extract. it was also revealed that the effective anti-mrsa agent of the assessed plant was a relatively polar substance with an mic value of about 8 μg/ml against the tested mrsa strain (in comparison with the mic value of 32 μg/ml for chloramphenicol). materials and methods the plant organic extract was prepared via maceration in methanol, followed by the fractionation using n-hexane. the extracts were subjected for minimum inhibitory concentrations (mics) against some human pathogenic bacteria via standard broth micro-dilution assay. thereafter, a bio-autographical method was applied using the high performance thin layer chromatography (hptlc) coupled with agar overlay assays for the primary characterization and identification of bioactive substance (s). background plants are considered as promising sources of new antibacterial agents as well as bioassay guided fractionation. objectives in the present work, the antibacterial properties, especially against methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (mrsa), of bromus inermis inflorescence was studied, using the bioassay guided fractionation as well as the bio-autographic method.

متن کاملMethicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus
Etiology Staphylococcus aureus is a Gram positive, coagulase positive coccus in the family Staphylococcaceae. Methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) strains are resistant to methicillin and essentially all other beta-lactam antibiotics. MRSA isolates are genetically heterogeneous. 1 Some strains, which are called epidemic strains; are more prevalent and can spread within or between hospitals an...
متن کاملMethicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus
Staphylococcus aureus is an opportunistic pathogen often carried asymptomatically on the human body. Methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) strains have acquired a gene that makes them resistant to all beta-lactam antibiotics. Hospital-associated strains of this organism are serious nosocomial pathogens that have become resistant to most common antibiotics, and treatment can be challenging. Com...

received much attention over the past 30 years because of its increasing incidence and the morbidity and excess hospital stay length associated with MRSA infection. Th e current controversy about the eff ectiveness of control measures, notably screening, derives from the confl icting results of available studies, lack of well-designed controlled studies, and concomitant use of several intervent...

Staphylococcus aureus is an opportunistic pathogen often carried asymptomatically on the human body. Methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) includes those strains that have acquired a gene giving them resistance to methicillin and essentially all other beta-lactam antibiotics. MRSA was first reported in 1961, soon after methicillin was introduced into human medicine to treat penicillinresistant...

Out of 308 isolates of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from specimens processed at the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Medicine, Colombo 66 (21.5%) were resistant to methicillin. A significantly higher proportion of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) were isolated from special care units, namely the Premature Baby Unit (PBU) and the Plastic Surgery Unit (PSU) when compared...
